การแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อโควิด-19 ทำให้หลายคนมีโอกาสความคุ้นเคยกับเทคโนโลยีร่วมมือกันปฏิบัติงานผ่านทางไกล เช่น Skype, Zoom และ Team Viewer มากขึ้น เทคโนโลยีเหล่านี้ดูเหมือนจะมีความจำเป็นมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ต่อวิถีปฏิบัติแบบใหม่ในหลายภาคอุตสาหกรรมเนื่องด้วยนโยบายจำกัดการเดินทางหรือแม้กระทั่งการปิดประเทศในพื้นที่หลายแห่งของโลก
