พลาสติกย่อยสลายได้…ผลพลอยได้จากเศษผลไม้เหลือทิ้ง

เศษวัตถุดิบเหลือทิ้งในอุตสาหกรรม เป็นหนึ่งในปัญหาที่ถูกพูดถึงมานานแล้ว โดยเฉพาะในอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตอาหารและเครื่องดื่มซึ่งมีเศษวัตถุดิบเหลือทิ้งในปริมาณมาก นอกจากจะเป็นภาระของผู้ผลิตที่ต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายในการกำจัดแล้ว หากทำด้วยขั้นตอนที่ไม่ถูกต้องก็อาจส่งผลเสียต่อสภาพแวดล้อม ในปัจจุบันนี้ ผู้ผลิตและบริโภคมีความตระหนักถึงเรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อมและความยั่งยืนเพิ่มมากขึ้น การนำเศษวัตถุดิบเหลือทิ้งมาผ่านกระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ โดยนำเทคโนโลยีต่างๆ เข้ามาประยุกต์ใช้ เพื่อแปรรูปเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์อื่นและสร้างมูลค่า ที่เรียกว่า “By-product” หรือ “ผลพลอยได้” จากกระบวนการผลิต จึงได้รับความสนใจมากยิ่งขึ้นเพื่อมุ่งสู่ความยั่งยืนของสิ่งแวดล้อม ดังเช่น บริษัท ฟรุตต้า ไบโอเมด จำกัด ซึ่งเป็นผู้พัฒนาเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพและผลิตไบโอพอลิเมอร์ต้นน้ำจากของเหลือทางการเกษตรรายแรกในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ที่กำลังก้าวเข้าสู่อุตสาหกรรมบรรจุภัณฑ์พลาสติกชีวภาพในต่างประเทศ
Industrial waste is one of the long-discussed problems, especially in the food and beverage sector, where a massive quantity of raw material waste and its treatment processes entail extra financial burdens. On top of that, if such waste is not properly treated, it may have detrimental effects on the environment. Nowadays, both consumers and manufacturers are becoming increasingly conscious of environmental friendliness and sustainability, leading to raw material waste being technologically processed and turned into entirely new industrial by-products with added value. Such an initiative has garnered more attention thanks to its potential to promote environmental sustainability. For instance, Fruita Biomed Co., Ltd., a biological technology developer, is the first enterprise in Southeast Asia to produce biopolymer from upstream agricultural waste and is now internationally expanding its business into the bioplastic packaging industry.
