SAFETY ALERT
Currently, an accident and unsafe trend in a factory
and warehouse area have been increased due to the
negligence of human or even a tool that is not conducive
to work. One of main reasons is the lack of serious
support on security procedure from the organization,
in terms of educating their human resources, budget,
and time. As a result, the security measure cannot
be carried out continuously and effectively. This is a
crucial agenda for the management and the owner,
who will play a significant role to draw a policy in
order to promote safety management in factory and
warehouse areas to meet the safety standards.
Key to create safety in factory and warehouse areas could be
divided in accordance to the form of operations as follows:
Passive or Prevention. If there were problems that are expected
to be vulnerable to insecurity, solve the problems immediately whether
by training an operation team, or using equipments or technology to
help and increase efficiency. For example, if there are a need to lift
the goods up high or in the corner area, the forklift camera should be
installed to increase visibility for the driver, or use the spill containment
to prevent chemical leakage and flow from the plant’s water system
to the public resource and etc.
Active or Protection. Wear safety glove and safety shoes, which
are suitable for working to protect staffs from chemical substance,
temperature, or any injury that may occur during working.
Besides, reducing the risks, which may harm to individuals and
property, presently there are also many tools that can reduce injury
during work and increase the working efficiency such as using a
vacuum lifter to reduce pain after heavy lifting, or using a wrapping
machine to wrap the product and reduce the contamination of goods
from the dirt while transporting and storing, as well as using other
tools, which are now highly demanded by entrepreneurs.
Warehouse Safety Management. We will often find that operators
have overlooked on warehouse safety management as it has been
considered as an additional burden and unnecessary for working. Yet,
actually it is one of the key issues to be aware of for all involved,
including the management and operation parts to reduce doubts about
the safety of products and personnel, as well as reduce accident to
“Zero Accident”, which is a campaign that both public and private
organizations have attempted to promote for many years.
Consequence, to educate and create understanding within the
organization about the impact that may occur, while also propose a
prevention measure will be an important step to leverage not only the
working policy or increase safety at the workplace, but also life up the
production standard, which can affect the trust of consumers.
