           Risk Factors Affecting Food and Beverage Sector
           The United States has maintained Thailand in the Tier 2 Watch
           List on its human trafficking report, creating risk on Thailand
           export sector due to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the US has
           issued that a country, which has remained in the Tier 2 Watch
           List for the second consecutive years could have a chance to be
           downgraded to Tier 3 in the next estimation which could affect
           image of Thai products, especially on fishery products in the
           future .
              Thailand has been kept a yellow card under the European
           Union  (EU)  review  of  the  country’s  status  on  IUU  –  illegal,
           unregulated, and unreported – fishing problems, causing Thailand
           as a risk country to get the red card and could face export
           suspension for processed fishery products to the EU market.
           However, Thailand  has  continuously  solved  the  IUU  fishing
           problem and it is has improved considerably.
              Risk from the amendment of Thai laws to allow import of pork
           meat and offal which have ractopamine to cause red meat from
           the US. Recently, the involved agencies have discussed and
           studied on the possibility to amend the law. If the law could be
           amended to allow an import of red meat with ractopamine from
           the US, it would create huge impact on Thai swine raising industry
           as the price of Thai pork is higher than the US (American citizens
           do not eat offal. So in an average, the price of import pork meat
           from the US will be lowered than Thai meat).

           Global Beverage Market that Thai could Seek
           Opportunity
              USA: Healthy Herbal Tea which made from Thai natural raw
           materials such as ginger, peppermint, lemongrass, and turmeric
           are some beverage that are expected to have high potential to
           grow in the US market. Thai entrepreneurs should focus on
           working  age  and  elderly American  consumers,  who  need
           beverage that help strengthen their bodies, promote the immune
           system, and nourish their  health. Moreover, the drink made from
           tropical fruits or Super fruits such as coconut, pomegranate, and
           mangosteen have great trend and  market opportunity to grow
           in the US market as these herbs and fruits are all medicinal
           properties and have a lot of health benefits.
              Japan: Naturally Healthy drink which made from natural raw
           materials that are good for health such as brown rice and fortified
           / functional foods with added health benefits such as collagen
           are the most popular health food products in Japan accounted
           by 51.6 percent and 35.6 percent of total sales value of healthy
           food  and  beverages  in  Japan  market  in  2017,  respectively.
           Healthy beverage which non-alcohol is the most popular product
           in Japan market accounted by 58.1 percent, followed by dairy
           products which has a 16.4 percent market share.
              China: Drink that reduce the amount of some substances
           for health (Better for You), such as sugar, preservatives, and etc
           have high potential to compete in China market due to strong
           economic growth and better living quality. Consequence, many
           Chinese consumers are starting to focus more on their health
           and their living quality. Also, with rapidly increasing numbers of
           elderly  people,  the  demand  for  healthy  food  is  increasing.
           However, the production capacity in the country is not sufficient
           to meet the demand of Chinese people, while there is a problem
           on producing quality product; foreign entrepreneurs, thus, have
           entered to do a health related businesses in China, while China
           have continued to import healthy food products from overseas.
