                     Krungthai COMPASS Research Center
by Krung Thai Bank discovered the interesting
points of Plant-based food products as
                  follows:
                     1.Plant-based Meat is fairly affordable
with a little cost more than the original product.
When comparing the unit price per protein
quantity, Plant-based Meat Burger’s cost is
just 40 percent over the original one. In
contrary, Almond milk's price is reaching up
1,500 percent of a dairy product.
2.Plant-based Meal has come with more
                  variety nowadays. Due to consumer’s
behavior shifted towards a convenient lifestyle
but still concerned their health, Plant-based
Meal offers various products i.e., chilled food,
frozen food, and food stored in a room
temperature. Thanks for the advance of food
production technology in this day. A Plant-
based meal has given the taste as good as a
                  new cooked food.
                     3.Plant-based Egg satisfies the needs
                  of health-conscious consumers. This product
is good for those who is allergic to an egg.
Besides, it has a longer shelf-life.
There are many reasons to urge Thai food
producers to enter the Plant-based food
market. First, the trend of health-conscious
consumers around the world are growing. The
flexitarian who is partly vegetarian, is growing
steadily with a sizable market cap. In addition,
the awareness of environmental and animal
welfare becomes intense. Thus, food security
could be a problem in the future which
requires the food technology and innovations
                  to solve this complication. Importantly,
                  COVID-19 outbreak has pushed consumers
to concern more on meat consumption.
According to the study from ‘The Beet’ - the
healthy food publisher website, it found that
23 percent of U.S. consumers chose to take
a plant-based protein dietary. The reason
behind this behavior came from a fear of
