1. Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) is a label indicating
the amount of greenhouse gases emitted throughout the life
cycle of a product, starting from the
procurement of raw materials, the
production process, distribution, utilization,
and waste management after its use. It is
expressed in carbon dioxide equivalent
units (CO eq.) per product unit. An
2
example of this is illustrated in Figure 1. The information is to
communicate to consumers that the product cares about global
warming and has applied greenhouse gas management
practices. For example, a bag of rice has a carbon footprint of
2.5 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent, or a box of milk Figure 2 Criteria for certification of carbon footprint reduction labels

30% of the total certified products. the production process. When evaluating the product’s
carbon footprint, it must be less than the same product type
that uses virgin materials in its production process.
2. In the case of other circular economy products that
are non-recyclable products, such as reconditioning,
refurbishment, or upcycling, products must first be certified
as a circular economy product by an organization recognized
by the TGO, before they can be qualified for carbon footprint

2. Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) is a label indicating
that the product’s carbon footprint has been assessed and
managed to the point where its greenhouse gas emissions
have been successfully reduced and are
in accordance with the specified criteria. In
other words, when the current year’s
product’s carbon footprint is compared to
the base year (past data not exceeding 3
years) or compared with the performance
benchmark, it shows a decrease in the amount of the product’s
carbon footprint (as illustrated in Figure 2). Currently, there are
963 TGO-certified products from 132 companies that have
contributed towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions by
6.5 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. Food and Figure 3 Carbon footprint certification criteria for Circular Economy

labels account for about 40%. Products that display global
warming labels will be used as information to communicate to
consumers that the product has contributed towards reducing
greenhouse gas emissions or reducing global warming and
can be used for making decisions for purchases. Additionally,
it can be used to encourage manufacturers to produce products
that are more environmentally friendly.
3. Carbon Footprint of Circular Economy Product
(CE-CFP) is a label that informs consumers that a product is
produced by using renewable resources in
accordance with the Circular Economy
principles and emits less greenhouse gases
than the same product made from virgin
material. The criteria for certifying such products
are as follows:
