TheMinistryof PublicHealthby theFoodandDrugAdministration (Thai FDA) has revisedNotificationof theMinistry
of Public Health (No.281) B.E.2547 (2004) Re: FoodAdditives concerning conditions for use of food additives and
their labeling forconsumerprotectionandsafetypurpose,and tobeharmonizedwithCodexAlimentarius International
FoodStandards. Labelingof foodadditives is prescribed to declare adequatedetails so that the processors can use
correctly. Therefore, the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.363) B.E.2556 (2013) Re: FoodAdditives
(No.2) dated 23

September B.E.2556 (2013), has been issued. The followings are substantiveamendments.
1.Toprescribe the rolesofmanufacturers
or importers of food additives, who shall
complywith the following:
•Foodmanufacturersshallprovideall the
detailsof foodadditivesandmethodsof use
according to the Notification of theMinistry
of PublicHealth, Re: FoodAdditives.
•Manufacturers or importers of food
additives shall declare evidence or provide
necessary information so that the food
manufacturerscancontrol theusageof food
additives inaccordancewith theNotification
of the Ministry of Public Health, Re: Food
Additives.
2.Toprescribe labelingof foodadditives.
Labeling of food additives, not only
following the Notification of the Ministry of
Public Health (No.194) B.E.2543 (2000)
regardingLabeling,butalso thedetailsunder
this notification which there are 3 cases as
follows:
•Food additives sold directly to
consumers, including food additives sold to
otherbusinesses for repackagingand tocook
in restaurants and hotels.
•Food addi t ives sold to food
manufacturers who will use them as
ingredients in commercial food processing,
theproductsofwhicharenot solddirectly to
consumers
•Foodadditives for export
Details are summarized in the tables
(page13).
3. This notification shall come into
force on 29
th
January B.E.2557 (2014).
The manufacturers or importers of food
additiveswhohavebeenallowedbefore29
th
JanuaryB.E. 2557 (2014) shall becomplied
with thisnotificationandall remaining labels
can be used by 28
th
January B.E.2558
(2015).
4. Refer to this notification, incorrect
labeling will be classified as substandard
labeling.According toSection6 (10),anyone
who violates shall be fined not more than
THB 30,000.
