Thailand has been known widely from its nickname
“Kitchenof theWorld”, but various inputs for Thai food
industry,suchascowandbuffalo,havebeenalarmingly
decreased in these past few years. So far, many
countries have turned to Australia for food sourcing.
Thus, Australia could be amain supplier for Thai food
production, andcouldhelppromoteThailandasa food
tradingnation, too.
ประเทศไทยมีชื่อเสียงด้านการเป็นครัวของโลกหรือ “Kitchenof the
World” แต่ปัจจัยการผลิตหลายอย่างของไทยกลับลดลงอย่ างน่าตกใจ
เช่น โค และกระบือ ขณะที่หลายประเทศทั่วโลกได้หันไปหาออสเตรเลีย
ในการสรรหา (Sourcing) อาหารให้กับประเทศของตนเองและประเทศ
ทั่วโลกมากยิ่ งขึ้น ดังนั้น ออสเตรเลียอาจเป็นแหล่งซัพพลายเออร์ป้อน
สายการผลิตด้านอาหารของไทย และยังสามารถช่วยส่งเสริมไทยก้าวสู่
การเป็นชาติการค้า (Trading nation) ด้านอาหารได้ด้วยเช่นกัน

จ กข้อมูลของสหประชาชาติระบุว่ า ในอีก 37 ปีข้างหน้า จ�ำนวน
ประชากรโลกจะเพิ่มขึ้นจาก7,000ล้านคนในปัจจุบัน เป็น9,700
ล้านคนในปี 2593 โดยความต้องการปริ มาณอาหารโลกจะเพิ่มขึ้น
อีกกว่าร้ อยละ 70 จากข้อมูลดั งกล่าวแสดงให้เห็นว่าอุตสาหกรรมอาหาร
ยังคงเป็นหนึ่ งในอุตสาหกรรมที่ส�ำคัญของโลกทั้งในปั จจุบันและอนาคต
โดยมีตลาดที่ส�ำคัญและมีขนาดใหญ่ในเอเชี ยเป็นส่วนใหญ่ เช่น อินเดี ย
ตะวันออกกลาง อาเซียนและจีน
ออสเตรเลียกับบทบาทแหล่งผลิตอาหาร
ปัจจุบันออสเตรเลียเริ่ มมีบทบาทในการเป็นแหล่งผลิตอาหารที่ส�ำคัญของ
โลกมากขึ้น เช่น ในกรณีของบรูไนซึ่ งยังพึ่ งพาตนเองด้านอาหารไม่ได้มากนัก
โดยกว่าร้ อยละ 80 ของการบริโภคต้องน�ำเข้า ดังนั้น รัฐบาลบรูไนจึงได้
เข้าไปลงทุนด้านปศุ สัตว์ในออสเตรเลียบนพื้นที่ 5,860 ตารางกิโลเมตร

increase from 7 billion to 9.7 billion in the next 37 years. In
2050, global demand for foodwill increasemore than70%.
Thedataproves that food industry remainsoneof themost important
industries, bothat present and in the future.Meanwhile, important
and large markets are in Asia, such as India, the Middle East,
ASEAN andChina.

Nowadays, Australia has been increasingly important as a global
foodproducer. Incaseof Brunei, thecountry isknown that it isnot
yet self-sustainedand80%of local consumptionare imported from
other countries.Hence, theSultanastatehas invested in livestock
on 5,860 square kilometres of Australian land (much larger than
Brunei itself), in order to supply food to its country. Nonetheless,
Brunei aims for bigger achievement. As an energy producer like
