It is remarkable that since the political changes and relaxation of
sanctions to Myanmar, many countries rather express interest in this
country, especially the developed countries that are ready to assist in
her development. These countries also support groups of investors in
potential range of business opportunities to expand their businesses
in Myanmar. Thailand, as the largest cumulative investor in Myanmar
from ASEAN, should not overlook the opportunity to stand in Myanmar
businesses as well.
Potential for Business of Thailand to Invest
in Myanmar
This turning of Myanmar is a critical rhythm on businesses of Thailand to
market in the form of investment into the potential business opportunities
in the future of the country. Growth of exports from Thailand to Myanmar
has been relatively strong. This reflects the recognition of products of
Thailand. If Thai businesses can invest into products/service in Myanmar
with more economic growth in the period from now, they not only meet
consumer demand but also the opportunity to expand trade with other
partners in the host country, particularly China and India that share
borderline with Myanmar. Recently India is expanding trade relations
with Myanmar into two-fold by 2015.
Thailand investments are in businesses that focus on the natural
resources of Myanmar, in the field of energy, in particular, natural gas
and mining sectors. Thailand investment in other businesses is not
significant such as hotels and related business, construction business,
pet food and so on.
For investment opportunities of Thailand in Myanmar in the period
from now, they cover a wide range of business fields such as business
related to infrastructure development in line with the policy of the country to
