ในปัจจุบัน หากเราเดิ นเข้าร้านสะดวกซื้อเพื่ อเลือกซื้อขนมหรืออาหารซักอย่ าง
คงหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ว่าสิ่งแรกที่สะดุ ดตาผู้บริ โภคคือ กล่อง ถุง บรรจุภัณฑ์ต่างๆ
ที่เป็นเหมือนหน้าตาของสิ นค้านั้นๆ ส่วนสรรพคุณ ข้ อมูลผลิตภัณฑ์ เช่น
วันที่ผลิต วันหมดอายุ ที่ระบุอยู ่บนกล่องหรือถุงนั้น ก็ช่ วยให้ผู ้บริโภครับรู้
ข้อมูลต่างๆ ของสินค้าและตัดสินใจซื้อได้ ง่ายขึ้นด้วย ดังนั้น บรรจุภัณฑ์จึงถือเป็น
องค์ประกอบส�ำคัญมากกว่าแค่การปกป้องสินค้ าจากสิ่งสกปรกภายนอก รวมถึง
การออกแบบที่ดียังสามารถก�ำหนดยอดขายและราคาให้กับสินค้าบางประเภท
ได้เลยทีเดี ยว ส�ำหรับสินค้าบริโภคส่วนใหญ่ แล้วบรรจุภัณฑ์ แบบอ่อนตัว
(Flexible packaging) ถือเป็ นบรรจุภัณฑ์ที่มีการใช้ กันกว้ างขวางมากที่สุด
Form-Fill-Seal Bag คืออะไร? บรรจุภั ณฑ์แบบอ่อนตั วนั้นส่วนใหญ่
มักมาในรูปของถุงทรงสี่เหลี่ยมซึ่งมีหลากหลายขนาดและรู ปแบบ ตามความเข้าใจ
ของคนทั่วไปที่ไม่ได้อยู่ในอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตอาหารย่อมเข้ าใจว่ากรรมวิธีในการ-
บรรจุคื อ น�ำถุ งทรงสี่เหลี่ยมที่เปิดปากด้านหนึ่ งมาบรรจุสินค้ าแล้วก็ปิดผนึ ก วิธี การ
ดังกล่าวถูกใช้ กับถุงส�ำเร็จรูป ซึ่งจ�ำเป็นต้องก�ำหนดขนาดถุงตั้งแต่แรก แจ้ งโรงงานผู้ผลิต
ถุงว่าต้องการถุ งขนาดไหน จ�ำนวนเท่าไหร่ สั่งผลิต แล้วจึงน�ำมาใช้งาน แต่ยังมีวิธีการ-
บรรจุอีกแบบหนึ่งที่เรียกว่าForm-Fill-Sealที่สินค้าจะถูกบรรจุเข้าไปพร้อมกับการสร้าง
ถุง ดังนั้ นจึงเรี ยกชื่อตามวิธี การว่า Form (ท� ำการขึ้นรู ป) Fill (เติมสิ นค้า) Seal
(ปิดผนึก) การห่อสินค้าโดยวิ ธี Form-Fill-Seal นี้จะใช้ เครื่องจักรเฉพาะเรี ยกว่า
Form-Fill-Sealmachineซึ่งแบ่งเป็น2ชนิดคือHorizontal Form-Fill-Sealmachine
(เครื่องห่อแบบแนวนอน) และ Vertical Form-Fill-Seal machine (เครื่ องห่อ
แบบแนวตั้ง)
Horizontal Form-Fill-Seal Machine หลักการของเครื่องห่อแบบ
แนวนอน (รูปที่ 1) คือการน�ำวั สดุ ซึ่งโดยมากเป็นแผ่นพลาสติ กเป็นม้วน ในที่นี้ขอ
เรียกว่า ฟิล์มมาท� ำการขึ้นรูปและซีลด้วยความร้อนให้เป็นท่อยาว สินค้าจะถูกส่งเข้า
จากด้านหน้าของเครื่ องจักรเข้าไปในท่อฟิ ล์มที่ขึ้นรูปไว้แล้วจากนั้นจึงซีลปิ ดผนึกและ
ตัดเป็นชิ้นๆ เกิดเป็นรูปร่างของถุง บางกรณีผู้ผลิตเครื่ องจักรจะเรียกถุงลักษณะนี้ว่ า
Pillow เนื่องจากมีรูปร่างหลังบรรจุคล้ายหมอนนั่นเอง ดังนั้ นจึงเหมาะส� ำหรับสินค้าที่
เป็นชิ้นเดียว หรือหลายชิ้นแต่สามารถเรียงเป็นระเบียบ ไม่ กระจัดกระจายจนเกิ นไป
ไม่มีเศษสินค้ าตกหล่นมากเกินไป เช่ นขนมปังซาลาเปาสิ นค้าใส่ถาด (เช่ นข้าวพร้อม-
รับประทาน) ลู กอมขนมที่มีลักษณะเป็ นชิ้น เช่ น เวเฟอร์ แคร็กเกอร์ เป็นต้ น

แนวตั้งนั้นเป็นเช่นเดียวกับเครื่องห่อแบบแนวนอนคือใช้ฟิล์มม้ วนและผ่านการขึ้นรูป
ให้เป็นลักษณะของถุงโดยBag former เหมือนกันหากแต่เปลี่ยนจากการวิ่ งของสินค้า
จากแนวนอนมาเป็นแนวตั ้ง จากบนลงล่ างเท่านั้นเอง ซึ่ งเหมาะกั บผลิตภั ณฑ์ที่ มี
ลักษณะกระจัดกระจาย รู ปร่างลักษณะไม่แน่ นอน ไม่สามารถวางบนสายพาน
ให้วิ่งและห่อด้วยเครื่องห่ อแนวนอนได้ เช่ น ขนมขบเคี้ยว สินค้ าที่เป็ นผง ของเหลว
ลูกอมหลายๆ เม็ดบรรจุ ในซองใหญ่ อาหารแช่แข็งชิ้นเล็กๆ หลายๆ ชิ้น เช่น นักเก็ต
เป็นต้น
Nowadays,whenconsumerswalk intoaconveniencestore to

that theynoticeare theboxes, bags, andpackages that have
the image of the product. Product properties and information
such as dates of manufacture and expiration on the box or
bag allow consumers to get information about the products
andmake their purchasing decisionsmore easily. Therefore,
packaging is a key element for more than just protecting the
products fromexternalcontamination;awell-designedpackage
can even determine sales and prices for some products. For
most consumer products, flexible packaging is the type of
packaging that ismost widely used.
What is a Form-Fill-Seal Bag? Flexible packaging most often
comes in the form of a rectangular bag which can have a variety of sizes
andstyles.According to theunderstandingof thecommonmanwho isnot in
the foodmanufacturing industry, the process of filling a rectangular bagwill
entail opening themouthof thebagononeend, filling it, and thensealing the
package.In fact, thismethod isusedwithpreformedbags forwhich thesizeof
thebagneeds tobedefined from thestart.Thepreformedbagmanufacturer
is informedas to the requiredbag sizeandhowmany areneeded; after the
productionorderhasbeenmadeandcompleted, thefinishedbagsare ready
tobefilled.However, there isanother packagefillingmethodcalled form-fill-
seal.In the form-fill-seal packagingmethod, the product will be packed into
thebagat thesame time thebag isbeing formed, therebyaccounting for the
name: Form (forming the bag), Fill (filling the bag with product), and Seal
(sealing thenewly formedandfilledbag).The form-fill-sealpackingmethodwill
utilizespecificequipment, namely form-fill-sealmachines,whicharedivided
into two types: Horizontal form-fill-seal machines (for horizontal packaging)
and vertical form-fill-seal machines (for vertical packaging).
HorizontalForm-Fill-SealMachine Theprincipleof thehorizontal
form-fill-seal machine (Figure 1) is to have the packagingmaterial—which
most often is plastic filmon rolls—formed into the desired shape and heat-
sealed as a long tube. The product will be delivered from the front of the
machine into the formed film tube, which is then formed into the shape of
the bag, sealed, and cut as individual units.In some cases, manufacturers
of form-fill-seal machinerywill call this type bag a “pillow” because it will be
shaped like a pillow after it is filled. Therefore, it is ideal for a product that
is a single piece or several pieces which can be packed orderly, which do
not scatter toomuch, andwhichdonot have toomany crumbs, for example
bread, steamed dumplings, products on a tray (such as ready-to-eat rice),
hard candy, or snacks that are individual pieces likewafers and crackers.
Vertical Form-Fill-Seal Machine The working principle of the
vertical form-fill-seal machine is the same as that of the horizontal form-fill-
seal machine in that film from a roll passes through a forming process into
